Moonlight Ride

(Author Unknown)

Jenny was so
happy about the house they had found.
For once in her life
'twas on the right side of town.
She unpacked her things
with such great ease.
As she watched her new
curtains blow
in the breeze.

How wonderful it was to have
her own room.
School would be starting,
she'd have friends
over soon.
There'd be sleep-overs, and
parties; she was so happy
It's just the way she wanted
her life to be.

On the first day of school,
everything went great.
She made new friends and even
got a date!

She thought, "I want to be popular
and I'm going to be,
Because I just got a date with the
star of the team!"

To be known in this school you
had to have a clout,
And dating this guy would sure
help her out.

There was only one problem
stopping her fate.
Her parents had said she was too young to
date.

"Well, I just won't tell them the
entire truth.

They won't know the difference; what's
there to lose?"

Jenny asked to stay with her friends that night.
Her parents frowned but said, "All right."

Excited, she got ready for the big event
But as she rushed around like she had no sense,
She began to feel guilty about
all the lies,
But what's a pizza, a party,
and a moonlight ride?

Well the pizza was good, and
the party
was great,
But the moonlight ride
would have to wait.

For Jeff was half drunk by this time.
But he kissed her and said that he was just fine.

Then the room filled with smoke and Jeff took a puff.
Jenny couldn't believe he was smoking that stuff.
Now Jeff
was ready to ride to the point
But only after he'd smoked
another joint.

They jumped in the car for the
moonlight ride,
Not thinking that he was too
drunk to drive.
They finally made it to the
point at last,

and Jeff started trying to make a pass.

A pass is not what Jenny wanted at all
and by a pass, I dont mean playing football).
"Perhaps my parents were right....maybe I am too
young.
Boy, how could I ever,
ever be so dumb."

With all of her might, she
pushed Jeff away:
"Please take me home, I dont
want to stay."
Jeff cranked up the engine and
floored the gas.
In a matter of seconds they were
going too fast.

As Jeff drove on in a fit of wild anger,
Jenny knew that her life was in danger.
She begged and pleaded for him to slow down,
But he just got
faster as they neared the town.
"Just let me
get home! I'll confess that I lied.
I really went out for a
moonlight ride."
Then all of a sudden, she saw
a big flash.
"Oh God, Please help us!
We're going to crash!"

She doesn't remember the force
of impact.

Just that everything all of a
sudden went black.

She felt someone remove her from the
twisted rubble,
And heard, "Call an ambulance!
These kids are in trouble!"

Voices she heard...a few words at best.
But she knew there were two cars involved in the wreck.
Then wondered to herself if Jeff was all right,
And if the people
in the other car were alive.

She awoke in the
hospital to faces so sad.
"You've been in a wreck and it
looks pretty bad."
These voices echoed inside her head,
As they gently told her that Jeff was dead.

They said "Jenny, we've done all we can do.
But it looks as if we'll lose you too."
"But the people in the other car!?" Jenny cried.
"We're sorry, Jenny, they also died."

Jenny prayed, "God, forgive me
for what I've done
I only wanted to have just one
night of fun."

"Tell those people's family,
I've made their lives dim,
And wish I could return their
families to them."

"Tell Mom and Dad I'm sorry I lied,
And that it's my fault so many have died.
Oh, nurse, won't
you please tell them that for me?"
The nurse just stood
here - she never agreed.

But took Jenny's
hand with tears in her eyes
And a few moments later
Jenny died.
A man asked the nurse, "Why
didn't you do your best
To bid that girl her one last
request?"

She looked at the man with eyes oh
so sad.

"Because the people in the other car were
her mom and dad."

This story is sad and unpleasant but True,
So young people
take heed, it could have been you.

I went to a party, Mom, I remembered what you said.

You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank soda instead

I really felt proud inside, Mom, the way you said I would.

I didn't drink and drive, Mom, even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom, I know you are always right.

Now the party is finally ending, Mom, as everyone is driving out of sight.

As I got into my car, Mom, I knew I'd get home in one piece.

Because of the way you raised me, so responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled out into the road, them other car didn't see me, Mom, and hit me like a load.

As I lay there on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say, the other guy is drunk, Mom, and now I'm the one who will pay.

I'm lying here dying, Mom.. I wish you'd get here soon.

How could this happen to me, Mom? My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine.

I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn't drink.

It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think.

He was probably at the same party as I.

The only difference is, he drank and I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life.

I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair.

I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave.

And when I go to heaven, Mom, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave

Someone should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive.

If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom. I'm becoming very scared.

Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you, you were always there.

I have one last question, Mom, before I say good bye.

I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die?

True Friends

By Chris Harris

There are many people that we consider friends
Some are good and some are bad, it really just depends
The sweetest kind of friendship is one that never ends
So called friends will come and go. It will always be that way
The true friends are the loving ones who are in your life to stay
A true friend is always there no matter what the trouble
They are there to restore your world when all that's left is rubble
Just when things were getting dim and your life had fallen apart
A friend was there to bring you light and heal your broken heart
A true friend's only wish is to bring you love and joy
The other ones you thought were friends just used you for a toy
This wonderful person, the one who cared, was nothing but a fake
They weren't there to give, they were only there to take
How many good friends do you have? How many are really true?
I know that I'll always have one, because I'm friends with you!

Chances

By Chris Harris

As I think back in my memory
Of all my chances had
I see many a missed opportunity
And it makes me very sad

Things I should have said
Are forever unrevealed
I didn't speak but chose instead
To keep my mouth so tightly sealed

Oh how I wish I had spoken
The things that were on my mind
Now my heart is broken
Bad memories are never kind

The unspoken words cause me pain
For I had the chance at my fingertips
The words just seemed to somehow remain
On my fearfully frozen lips

I pray, "Dear God forgive me
For not speaking in the past,
And in the future, Lord help me to see
That this chance may be my last."

Can You Forgive?

By Chris Harris

What did I do?
What did I say?
How can I appease you?
What will it take to repay?

I'm sorry for whatever,
I did to cause this
Don't stay angry forever
Your friendship I miss

Forgive me I pray
I'm down on my knees
Don't let it stay this way
I'm begging you please

Just Once

By Chris Harris

Just once I saw you and I knew
That I would always want to be with you
Just once I saw your beautiful face
It made my heartbeat start to race
Just once I saw your gorgeous smile
And I knew I wanted to hang around for a while
Just once you turned and looked my way
I wanted to speak but what could I say?
Just once I saw you laugh with glee
Oh how I wished you were laughing at me
Just once could you and I have a chat?
I would die and go to hell for that
Just once more could I see your face
This pain and emptiness it would erase
Just once more could your sweet voice caress my ear
I guess not since you're not here
Just once again I'll have to dream of you
There's nothing else that i can do

IS HEAVEN IN THE YELLOW PAGES?

Mommy went to Heaven, but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down, I need her right away.

Operator can you tell me how to find her in this book?
Is heaven in the yellow part, I don't know where to look.

I think my daddy needs her too, at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes, but I really don't know why.

Maybe if I call her, she will hurry home to me.
Is Heaven very far away, is it across the sea?

She's been gone a long, long time she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her, but I simply don't know how.

Help me find the number please, is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big words, I am only seven.

I'm sorry operator, I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too, or is there something in your eye?

If I call my church maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help that's where we should go.

I found the number to my church tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator, I'll give them a call. ********************************************************

"Always Say I Love You"

Brittney loved basketball
Friends and parties too
And when it came to painting
That's all she wanted to do

She painted everything she saw
Brids, flowers, the sky
Somedays she sat at her window
And painted everything that passed her by

But lately she'd been feeling woozy
Her muscles ached a lot
And her parents got kind of worried
So they took her to the doc

The doctor took a couple of tests
To see if everything was ok
Then the nurse came out with a look of sadness
And this is what she had to say;

"I'm sorry but you've got leukemia,"
"You've got about 3 months more."
Then Brittney got up and ran out of the room
And slammed the office door

She ran down the street screaming
And cried her eyes out dry
And stayed up all night
Wondering what it's like to die

Her parents held her tightly
And said, "We love you,"
"We'll make your last few months the greatest,"
"We'll do anything for you."

So Brittney and her parents moved to Florida
To live by the sea
Because Brittney loved the ocean
And when she dies, that's where she wanted to be

She spent her days painting
And horseback riding in by the bay
But one day she met this guy
And his name was Jay

They collected seashells together
And talked about all kinds of things
And then one day while walking
He handed her a ring

It said that, "I love you,"
Which brought tears to Brittney's eyes
And when he put it on her finger
She began to cry

"I've got leukemia, and about a month more."
Then Jay said, " No matter what, I love you,"
"And no matter what, you are the one I adore."

So they spent everyday together
And swam in the Atlantic all day
But Brittney was getting weaker
And it was hard for her stay awake

So one day Brittney painted her picture
And gave it to Jay
She said, "I want you to remember me,"
"Even when I leave this place."

But one day while they were walking
And searching for seashells in the sand
Brittney collapsed and started to lose her breath
And said to Jay, "Please hold my hand."

"I love you more then anyone,"
"You are my only true love,"
"But now my time is up,"
"And I'll watch over you from above,"

Then Brittney's body was lifeless
As she lay in Jay's arms
And he sat there all day
And kept her safe from harm

I hope this teaches you a lesson
To tell someone you love them whenever you can
Because maybe they'll be gone tomorrow
And you wont be there to hold their hand

Because love is everything to everybody
Without it, the world would be dead
So always tell someone you love them
A parent, a lover, a friend

Collision of Galaxies

by Patrick email:Winetap76@aol.com

A massive object hurling through the eternal cosmos
Brimming with beautiful worlds and brilliant stars
But still filled with emptiness like a sieving sandpit
Never expecting the amazement of collision before him.

An undeniable attraction begins to take hold over him
Turning him from his path through a gravitational pull
And leads and lures and tempts this to that glowing body
Matching the first in brilliance, loneliness and hidden beauty.

They close the seemingly infinite gap towards one another,
Gaining speed as they progress, heat between them increases
As they touch and explosions fire off through the cosmos
With their first kiss of two stars meeting and going supernova.

They have begun the process that has been long in coming
No longer separate, alone. They have become one, connected.
And in that glorious first moment of sweet ecstasy and embrace
Their supple dance shows the chance to end sadness and the chase.

Flowering Garden

by Patrick email:Winetap76@aol.com

On the first day the garden was found.
Barren of life, but for crabgrass and weeds.
Earth hardened and reluctant to flourish.
Plants lay dried and withered in its soil.
She viewed it not for what it was,
But for its chance to be better,
Deciding to tend to its needs.

The second day she cleared away
Fallen rocks and debris from the past
Plantings that had failed to bring life.
She learned the top soil was full of misuse
And planted her seeds deep within
Hoping the plant would grow strong
Breaking through to the surface.

The third day brought surprise
As shoots from her seeds had rooted
To the heart of the garden and sprung
Forth for the world to see.
And her words were the sunshine
Strengthening it further.
Her love the water feeding it.

Soon her garden had began to blossom,
Though its full flower had yet to bloom.
She continued her days work,
Caring for all her flowering plants
In her garden she cared for deeply.
Singing a song that challenged the nightingale
In the beauty her voice held.

In time her love and devotion
To that dead plot of earth,
Gave birth to the loveliest of roses
With a scent of ambrosia
And the sweetest of fruits
With the taste of heaven.
To this day she remains
With her garden.
Each giving all the more
As time passes on.
